Let’s face it. We all go through days when we don’t feel positive, when life takes a difficult direction, or when we don’t feel our best. Even the most positive people experience the daily difficulties and troubles of life. Sometimes it’s good to feel a little calm, or to have a distinctly not positive feeling. We grow and learn a lot from those moments and they make us better understand who we are.

When you’re feeling down, or maybe not as optimistic as usual, here are five incredibly cool reminders on how to make your life as unbelievably awesome as possible. They renew you so that you can continue your journey with joy in your heart.

your unique soul

It should come as no surprise that you have a unique and distinct soul that sheds light on those around you. This could be the way you smile, your questionable wisdom, or the one that flashes in your eye when a new idea comes to mind. An accurate description of your soul cannot be filtered down to mere words. Suffice it to say that you are the only person who sees the world the way you do. Don’t waste your valuable time trying to be like everyone else. Your unique spirit helps others find a positive spark in themselves.

your contribution

Whatever roles you play in life, you are a contributor. As a student, parent, caregiver, employee, sibling, spouse, friend, VIP or professional, you make a significant contribution to the world around you. How you deliver on your performance is entirely up to you, but to be incredibly great in this category, bring your unique spirit into the relationships in your life to help create a positive atmosphere for those around you. You may not realize it, but others are counting on you. While there is a lot of discord and negativity in the world, you can be the shining light.

your talent

What is your talent? It is not always easy to answer this question. It took me 50 years before I finally realized that I am, and this is to motivate and inspire others through my role as a martial artist, and by using positivity. I’ve known all my life that I wanted to be a writer. Lack of confidence held me back for many years. I often wondered if I was a good enough writer to be published at all. Once I took a leap of faith and tried, I discovered that I really did have a talent for motivating others and writing. Don’t be blind to the things you do well. Talents must rise to the surface because we tend to bury them in our own unbelief. Open your mind and heart and watch the talents emerge.

special purpose

I’m sure you know that we all have a purpose in life. While my talents revolve around motivating others, martial arts, and writing, I believe my true goal is to make the world a better place. All my talents, hopes and dreams collide with this greater reality. I do what I do because I think it can make a difference. Once you understand your talents, you can decipher your mission. Think of it all as a puzzle that requires a few basic pieces to get them all together, and that’s really cool.

your goals

I always emphasize that you should write down your goals if you really want them to come to fruition. It is not enough to whisper them in your mind. Writing them memorializes what you really want in your life and serves as a reminder and a roadmap for your life. Your goals may overlap with those of others, but many of them will be specific to who you are, and will touch upon your unique spirit, contribution, talent, and purpose. While many people want to be a martial artist, for example, they each have a different reason for wanting a black belt. For some, this is a personal achievement, for others it is a dream of owning a martial arts school, and for others it is still an opportunity to overcome an obstacle or learn self-defense. Your goal then is not just to learn martial arts, but to become the best you can be, to earn income doing what you love, to create self-empowerment, or to protect yourself. Be specific in your goals and tailor them to what you really want to achieve. They are yours, and yours alone, to make it happen. you can do that!

There are a million reasons why you are incredibly awesome. Don’t forget how incredibly valuable you are to the world around you. Use the reminders above when you encounter a problem or difficulty. Be refreshed to know that you are truly unbelievably cool.
