David Benavidez poses THREAT to Canelo Alvarez says Tim Bradley

by Dan Ambrose: Tim Bradley says David Benavidez is a threat to Canelo Alvarez right now at 25, someone the Mexican needs to fight after rather than wait for him to improve.

Bradley thinks it would be a bad idea for the 31-year-old Canelo to wait until later to fight Benavidez. If Canelo waits to fight Benavidez, it will increase his chances of being defeated.

Although Floyd Mayweather Jr. was still fighting at a high level when he was 36, beating the 23-year-old Canelo in 2013, it is unlikely that the Mexican star will be able to do the same. against Benavidez.

Does Canelo avoid Benavidez?

If Canelo waits until he’s 35 or 36 before that in the end work on the nerve To fight Benavids, it may end badly for him.

On the other side of the coin, if Canelo chooses to permanently avoid Benavidez, it will be clear to boxing fans that he will lose his popularity.

It’s already clear to the fans that Canelo actively avoids Benavidez, but if he chooses to do it permanently, it will make him look pathetic.

With all this time Canelo is investing in winning division titles in hopes of building his legacy, it hurts her by not battling Benavides and other top fighters like Demetrius Andrade, David Morrell Jr and Germal Charlo.

Also, Canelo has unfinished business with Gennady Golovkin due to their two controversial fights, which fans thought GGG should have won.

Canelo should have put in a third fight for Golovkin to clear the controversy, but he’s not, and that makes him look like he’s avoiding the Kazakh.

Canelo (57-1-2, 39 KOs) appeared to dodge the former two-time WBC middleweight champion Benavides (25-0, 22 KOs), maneuvering him around to face fewer fighters to become the undisputed champion at 168 in 2021.

Benavidez lost his WBC title in August 2020 when he was overweight to defend his title against him Romer Alexis Angulo, fighter stopped in the tenth round.

Canelo is acting fast after four months to secure the vacant 168-pound WBC title with a one-sided 12-round victory over Callum Smith in December 2020.

Benavidez found it intriguing that Canelo, who had never shown any desire to face him during his time as the WBC champ, moved with lightning speed to fight for the belt once he lost the title on the scales to Angulo in August 2020.

Bradley wants Canelo to fight Benavidez

“Canelo Alvarez said in November that he would be interested in moving to cruiserweight to fight Ilunga Makabu, who can fight,” Max Kellermann said on Max on Boxing. “Have you ever seen Makabu fight?

“He can move, he can box, and he can punch. However, Jermal Charlo is the most likely opponent. Let me ask you this. What do you want to see Canelo do?”

I want to see Canelo face David Benavides. “This is the guy everyone wants to see him face,” Timothy Bradley said when asked who he’d like to see Alvarez fight against next.

Bradley isn’t the only one who wants Canelo to fight Benavidez. Practically, the entire world of boxing pushed Canelo to take the fight to Benavidez. However, he chose to take the weaker path by battling British fighters and older, out-of-date British fighters such as Danny Jacobs and Sergey Kovalev.

Canelo even fought his old sparring partner Avni Yildirim instead of facing Benavidez in 2021, making him look bad.

Benavidez poses a threat to Canelo

“He’s a big guy in the department, and he was a champion until he lost his belt in the scale,” Bradley said of the former two-time WBC middleweight champion Benavidez. He lost his title in August 2020 when he was overweight for defending his title against Roamer Alexis Angulo.

He’s a man who would pose a threat to Canelo Alvarez. he [Benavidez] Young man, he’s a daredevil, 25 years old, the kind that I think would bring out the best in Canelo.

“If you look at Canelo with the last guys he’s faced, yes, they were the world champions, but if you look at how favourite he is. Seven, eight to one favorites fighting the championship fight.

“number, We want to see Canelo beat it “Against someone is going to push it because we want to see how amazing this kid really is, and I think David Benavidez is that guy for Canelo Alvarez,” Tim Bradley said.

Benavidez poses a formidable threat to Canelo, and has been for many years now. Had Canelo fought Benavides until 2015, he would have lost.

But now that Benavidez had matured and turned 25, the fight was bad for Canelo.

Kellerman wants Canelo to fight Petterbiev

“I like Benavidez’s idea,” Kellerman said of who should fight Canelo next. “Obviously it’s a great action fight, and I understand what you mean. He’s had reasonable fights like if you list your top five opponents, they might be fifth.

But Jermal Charlo will be slightly higher on the list than fifth. Yeah, I’d like to see Canelo fight this guy. I think Benavidez falls into this category. He has a bigger size than Charlo. What is the problem in [Artur] Butter beef?

“If you want to put it in a cool place. [Dmitry] Bivol might be the toughest fight, but probably not the best match for fans. But Peterbief vs Canelo? Beterbiev wants you to stay there so he can get to you.

Canelo wants you to come to him so he can respond. It’s perfect. What’s wrong with Beterbiev?Kellerman said.

IBF/WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Artur Petterbiev (17-0, 17 KOs) would be an excellent choice for the upcoming Canelo fight. However, unfortunately, it seems that the Mexican star does not want to be a part of the two-time Russian Olympian.

When Canelo had the opportunity to fight Petrbiev in 2019, when he climbed to 175 to pursue a world title in the fourth division, he chose 36-year-old Sergei Kovalev.

At that point in Kovalev’s career, he was by far the weakest of the champs at 175 years old and a man destined to lose his WBO title against anyone with decent midfield skills.

In fact, Kovalev almost got thrown in his previous fight against Canelo against Anthony Yarde, a British fighter of modest talent.

Benavids will only get better

“It’s more than that,” Bradley said. “I understand the challenge and what it brings, but there is a hindrance in terms of the English language. There is a hindrance in terms of selling. Canelo wants to be in the big events. That’s it.

“I think it was David Benavidez who brought that up. He’s a reckless talker. He’s 25. Remember when [Floyd] Mayweather and Canelo met?

“I think Canelo was 23 when they faced each other, and Mayweather was getting ahead of him. It’s the same position that I think Canelo Alvarez could put himself in against David Benavidez.

“Being young, all he will get over time is that he will get better. So you may get it now Bradley said.

Obviously, the longer Canelo waits before fighting Benavidez, the worse it will be for him when they finally meet.

The only chance Canelo has of beating Benavides is that if he fights him now, and even then, he is not likely to emerge victorious without a controversial decision.

If Canelo waits another two to four years before fighting Benavidez, his work rate will be too low, and he will be too old to have any chance of winning.

Canelo vs. Benavidez sell Dallas Stadium

“I think this fight is going to sell Dallas stadium there,” Bradley said, and Bradley predicted Canelo would sell against Benavidez 80,000 seats at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“I think it’s really going to be sold out. It’s not just about styles; it’s about selling,” Bradley said in a fight between Canelo and Benavidez.

“You’re very upside for Benavidez because Canelo after Mayweather turns out to be the best pound-for-pound fighter, according to many in the world,” Kellerman said.

“With this kind of ascent, great! I think Petribev is the hardest challenge [for Canelo], but I’ve heard from others, they don’t think so. “They love Benavides, too,” Kellerman said.

Bradley is right about Canelo’s fight against Benavidez that sold 80,000 seats at the Dallas Cowboys Arena in Arlington, Texas. A fight between these two things would generate an enormous amount of interest in Texas or anywhere in the United States, for that matter.

Obviously, due to Canelo’s two controversial fights against Golovkin and his questionable win over Erislandy Lara, it would be best for him not to take on the Benavidez fight in Las Vegas.

Canelo’s track record of dodging losses due to the extraordinary scoring by the judges in Las Vegas makes that city a poor location for a fight with Benavidez.

In Texas, Canelo has a clean record, having not been involved in any controversial decisions so far, so this would be the perfect place to fight with Benavides.

The last thing fans have to see is Iron Canelo Benavidez, forcing the fight to take place in Las Vegas by giving him an offer to either accept it or leave it.

If Canelo forces the fight with Benavidez to take place in Las Vegas, it will put more pressure on him to take the referees out of play by doing their best for a KO.

That’s not good for Canelo as he doesn’t seem physically able to match Benavidez’s high work rate at this point in his career.

Also, Canelo wouldn’t defeat him by loading up on singles the way he did in his last three fights against Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, and Avni Yildirim.
