Matt Hardy Recalls Pitching Idea For Stable To Rival DX

During the episode opening of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy Podcast, Star AEW spoke about The Hardy Boyz, who do not forget Tag Team Ladder Match with Edge and Christian at No Mercy 1999. Matt Hardy talked about the importance of the game in the field of wrestling and talked about the point of view of Vince McMahon about wrestling tag team.

“If this match turns out to be a disaster in any way, we just don’t keep doing more things,” Hardy said. “You don’t see the table games, you don’t see the TLC matches, you don’t see those amazing memories from WrestleMania 16 & 17. They don’t exist, they don’t materialize, they don’t happen. You also don’t see the tag team division is over like it did back then either. Speak up. That’s a lot about how successful that match was, as my brother, Edge, Christian and Dudley and I were able to raise the value of the WWE tag team division.

“People also know that Vince McMahon is not a tag team wrestler. The way he looks at things, I don’t need singles stars who can be my world champion and that’s what people are invested in. If he ever gets a tag team card that becomes very much like Crazy, and he’s just looking out these guys up and turning them into singles stars. It’s just his way of thinking and that’s one of the things I love about The Young Bucks, they want to be a special team forever. That was my mentality and Jeff’s mentality at the time. Even if we look Back in that match with Edge and Christian, they might have broken up that night and didn’t. We wanted to take tag team wrestling to the highest level possible.”

Since Jeff Hardy’s release from WWE, Matt has spoken about his brothers’ future and how the iconic team wants to end their career together. Prior to his release, it was rumored that Jeff was lined up in a storyline with the NXT MSK group as “The Shaman” which was eventually changed to Riddle.

The Hardy Boyz won the match at No Mercy, who earned the right to have Terri Runnels as their manager that night. Hardy also spoke about why he’s grateful to Vince McMahon for letting the four of them showcase their skills that night.

“I will always be grateful to Vince McMahon for trusting the kids to get out there and have a merciless ladder match,” Hardy said. We were given that opportunity, and that can’t be said enough. If it wasn’t for them to let us in and trust us, this match could have been OK or OK, but it ended up being exceptional.”

The following night, the Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian met in the middle of the ring on Monday night and shook hands. Matt Hardy spoke about that moment and revealed an idea he pitched to the company about turning the Four Stars into a faction.

Hardy said: “I think it was very smart, and I imagined that this was a call Vince.” “Vince read the room properly. After that game, it’s a new era of wrestling where the fans began to dictate what they enjoy more and they will begin to dictate their work to overcome the rate. There have always been times where WWE paid someone and they were forced or make some sort of stars on the fans, and sometimes they were buying it. We have entered the period in which a sufficient number of people understand wrestling that they can not make a star of the supernatural, must happen organically.

“That’s what happened that night, I think Vince introduced myself, my brother and Edge and Christian were very respectful, people dig into our work ethic and we did some groundbreaking things that night before. He made that call for handshakes and mutual respect for each other and I think that was the call Right. From now on I actually did a pitch, my idea was for us to come together as a group and work against DX, and I wanted our group to be version 1 of Hardys, Edge and Christian. This initially is where I came up with the concept of version 1, version 1 The first of the prototypes of the wrestlers you’ll see in the future. It didn’t happen in the end.”
