By Sean Jones: Vasily Lomachenko replied to George Kambosos Jr. on Saturday in letting him know that his promoter has made “the best offer” to him, and they’re waiting for his decision whether they’ll take the fight.
It doesn’t look good for Lomachenko as far as him getting the fight against Kambosos, considering it appears that Australian’s promoter Lou DiBella plans on making a fight against Ryan Garcia.
On Friday, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya revealed that Ryan Garcia would be fighting DiBella-promoted lightweight Emmanuel Tagoe on April 9th on DAZN.
For Ryan to be fighting a complete unknown in Tagoewho happens to be promoted by DiBella, it’s evident that this is part of a two-fight deal for the Instagram star.
In exchange for Ryan fighting the obscure DiBella fighter Tagoe on April 9th, he gets a title shot against IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO lightweight champion Kambosos.
@georgekambosos Hey champion, we have made the best offer for you. We are waiting for your decision…

The fight makes sense for Kambosos and DAZN because it’ll attract a lot of interest with him taking on the famous Ryan Garcia. At the same time, Kambosos stands a better chance of beating Ryan than he would Lomachenko and Haney.
The four-belt lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KOs) barked instructions to the former three-division world champion Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) on Friday, telling him to have his promoter Bob Arum make a “serious offer” for the fight.
“When I said “Now We Can Talk,” I meant it! I didn’t expect Devin Haney for you to manipulate & play games,” said Kambosos on Twitter. “Eddie Hearn, what’s wrong with your boy? Yes or No.
“DAZN Boxing got no faith in him? Hey, Vasyl Lomachenko, tell Bob Arum to make a serious offer to Lou Dibella. I’m waiting,” said Kambosos.
We don’t know if Kambosos will take an easy voluntary defense while he waits for the smoke to clear from the April 9th flight between Ryan Garcia and Emmanuel Tagoe.
As long as Ryan doesn’t get injured or lose to Tagoe, he should fight Kambosos Jr in June in a stadium fight in Australia. That’s when Kambosos plans on fighting next.
Having Ryan as Kambosos’ opponent for his next fight will increase the chances of a large audience showing up to watch the battle in Australia. Many boxing fans would be coming to see Ryan, as he’s got a monstrous following on social media.
Today, the 23-year-old Ryan Garcia has a whopping 8.7 million followers on Instagram. In contrast, Kambosos has 425,000.
When you look at those numbers, Ryan is the equivalent of a champion, and he’ll likely be the one that brings in the fans, not Kambosos. Sean Jones hates to say it, but Ryan is the STAR, and Kambosos the B-side.
At this point, the Top Rank boss Arum has got to know already that Lomachenko doesn’t have a ghost of a chance of getting the Kambosos fight unless he offers the Australian an absurd amount of money.
Arum isn’t about to do that because Kambosos vs. Lomachenko isn’t a pay-per-view level fight in the US
Only the hardcore boxing fans in the States know who Kambosos are, and many of them realize that the only reason he beat Teofimo Lopez is that the former champion was injured, weight drained, and had no business fighting in that condition.
#1 WBC Lomachenko, 33, will have to wait his turn for a world title shot, but it’s sure as heck won’t be coming against Kambosos.
He’s got the WBC Franchise title, which makes him immune to being forced into a mandatory against Lomachenko.
The guy that has to worry is WBC champion Devin Haney because Lomachenko is breathing down his neck and likely makes easy work of the light-hitting belt holder.
